Southern Colorado Senior Companion Program

Spark the Change

AmeriCorps Seniors awarded Spark the Change Colorado a $471,311 grant to create the Southern Colorado Senior Companion Program (SOCO SCP) in 2022.  SOCO SCP will use 40 low income AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers to provide companionship and support for activities of daily life to historically underserved low-income older adults in the southern Colorado counties of Pueblo, Huerfano and Las Animas.

At the end of the two-year grant, AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers will be responsible for older adults reporting they have increased social support or improved capacity for independent living.

Susan Hyatt wrote the grant under contract to Spark the Change.
